A Letter from Our Pastor

  Church Family & Friends of Calapooia FMC,

Dear Friends;

Psalm 105 begins with these words, “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name; make known among the nations what he has done.”  Many of us can identify with that praise.  Over the past six months we have seen God do some pretty wonderful things within our Church Family and we have to celebrate and give thanks for His goodness and faithfulness.  Within the past six months we have seen:

·        24 New people join us here at Calapooia and we have seen our Church Family grow to 211 people.

·        Out of 211 people in our Church Family, 124 people are involved in at least one ministry within the Church and 43 are involved in two ministries. 25 are actively involved in civic and city government.

·        We have seen a small increase in the average worship attendance and in Sunday School attendance.

·        Had the largest attendance ever at our Ladies Annual Tea that was held at the Sutherlin Community Center .

·        Companions for Christ ministry has taken off and is getting people involved in helping others within the church family with special needs.

·        We awarded over $40,000 in scholarships to our young people who are attending both public and private colleges/universities.

·        Our facility is opened for community use and we have three AA groups that meet here throughout the week.

·        We have enjoyed “Birthday Sunday” as we get together on the first Sunday of each month to honor those who celebrate their birthdays.  We also have had baby showers for two couples expecting their little bundles of joy!

·        We have done some more landscaping around the church property.

·        A Children’s playground was purchased and put together for children in our church and neighborhood to enjoy.

·        Carpet was put in the Fellowship Hall to help with the sound problem.

·        We continue to help support the Sutherlin/Oakland Food Pantry.

·        Continue to improve our facilitiesNone of this is possible without the Lord’s blessings and your involvement in the life and ministry of Calapooia.  As I now begin my 20th year of ministry and my 16th year here at Calapooia, I want to thank you for your steadfast support, encouragement and prayers.

In the next six months, I hope that we can see God work in us to do the following to strengthen our ministry and impact here in North Douglas County .

Blessings,

     Pastor Stewart
